Dealing with toxic people can be such a task at times.
Imagine working with people who are more interested in highlighting your
mistakes rather than correcting you. Some people can be so annoying that they
think that the world revolves just around them. So from my personal experience,
I have come up with some of the tips that will surely help you to deal with
toxic people in your life.
Ignore them
First things first, ignore them. Like totally! Do not even
care what they are talking especially if they are talking about you or your
mistakes (in a bad way).
Let them know
If you can in any way, then show some signs or gestures to
let them know that their words or acts are hurting someone’s sentiments.
Cut off all the connections
If the person is your colleague or a classmate, then do not
get connected with them in any way. If you have to, then do it as little as
possible.
Confront
If their behavior is really bothering you and you can’t
even tolerate what they are saying, then tell them. Remember to do it in a
polite way.
Do not argue with them
If you know that they are arguing just to ‘win’ the
conversation, then do yourself a favor and walk away!
Empathize
Sometimes the reason behind a person being too arrogant or
self-centered can be the lack of love or attention. Try to understand why they
are behaving like that and handle the situation with maturity.
Keep calm and breathe
You do not always have to react in a situation. Sometimes
it’s better to just stay quiet and move on. Do not react to those people just
respect yourself enough to walk away with dignity.
